Welcome to my very first blog post! I created this blog for my Writing for Digital Media college course that is taught by Professor Marissa Landrigan (Professor Justus), who is a writer herself. On this blog, I will be writing about my love for baking and sharing my experiences that have made me a better baker as a college student. I might not have advance skills, but it is a blast learning new things and sharing with others that might be struggling with making the most simplest dessert to making something extremely complex that it becomes a disaster! Sometimes your best piece of writing can be a disaster to others.
Digital Media & Writing
Digital media has become a big part of today's society. There are a lot of food bloggers out on the web. I wondered if blogs on food will still be a popular topic in the next ten years! Despite the web, texting is also digital media. Everyone talks about food through texting. "Hey go pick up McDonalds!" Social media is also a part of digital media. Food and beverages are constantly advertised just like television!
Digital media is pretty much everywhere! I believe it has ruined society in some ways, but has brought humanity together too. It's blissful when bloggers or writers want to share their experiences and feelings to the world. Sometimes, we need to sit back and read what others have to say. You may go through something that somebody else has and it could help you get through whatever you may be dealing with. I think of writing like music. We all get to express ourselves through social media, texting, blogging, and maybe through YouTube videos! There is so much out in the world today that digital media have created jobs!
Digital Role Models
For my class assignment, my fellow classmates and I had to find three digital role models that inspires how we want to design our blogs, what we want to share, and the tone of our writing. I thought this was a piece of cake; however, I began pondering and realized that I was inspire by a lot of digital role models. Most of them were YouTubers and professional bakers. I knew I had to narrow down my choices, so here are the top three that inspires me the most!
YouTuber Miss Remi Cruz was chosen for the tone of my writing because of how positive and bubbly she is! Her and her YouTuber friend created a podcast a few month ago called #PrettyBasic . Here's a link to her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/RemLife
If you watch HGTV, then you might have watched Fixer Upper. The Fixer Upper star, Joanne Gaines was chosen for my taste of style. I love the Italian, chic, rustic, hobo, yet modern vibes. She has her own interior design collection called #MagnoliaMarket . Her collection is at Target!
Lastly, I grew up watching Pioneer Woman TV series. She was the first person that has inspired me to bake (including my mom). It's where I learn a lot of baking tips from her and I enjoy learning new recipes and finding my own ways of making new recipes. Here is Ree Drummond's blog: https://thepioneerwoman.com/
