Influencers in the Food and YouTube Industry

In my Writing for #Digital Media class, my professor pretty much asked my class to come up with five famous people or influencers and give a description for each one. These people have to be related to our blog topic. My topic is obviously about food. So, I found five different cooks, bakers, or people who are working with food in any way. Then, in our next class session, we were to create a "family tree" for each individuals. We had to research each person on how they were influenced or inspired into what they are doing now. Then, research if they feature anyone to grow their fame or if they somehow took someone else's work to expand the work into something else.

The five people I picked out were all related to the food industry in some ways; however, I am just going to pick one that I've thought she was really interesting. She was inspired by a lot of things and she influences other people in the public's eyes. She is #RosannaPansino.

This woman has accomplished so much in her life. She is a great author, producer actress, baker/cook, and a YouTuber. She was actress on CSI. She began her career as an actor on the tv show. She created her own blog and YouTube channel Rosanna Pansino. From there, she began to create her own cookbook, Nerdy Nummies. In her cook book, she features other popular people like YouTubers; Shane Dawson, and etc. She is coming out with a new cookbook, Baking All Year Round.

Then I conducted more research on what influenced Rosanna to be inspired to accomplish all of these things. First I went all the way back to when she wasn't famous.

She attended a Native American Elementary School. She was lettered in varsity gymnastics and varsity soccer her freshman year of high school. She was titled "Educational Goodwill Ambassador" from Tsinghua University, China. Then she taught English while living in China as part of a global poverty alleviation effort. Eventually, all of these things had made her decide that she wanted to try new things like acting and producing.

In 2012, was voted "Queen of the Web" with over 3.5 million votes online. She began YouTube part-time to get comfortable in front of a camera, but, eventually, she had to choose one—either acting or YouTube. So, Rosanna chose to do #YouTube. Pansino has stated that her interest in cooking was inspired by her grandmother. She began her YouTube channel after she was encouraged by a few of her professional YouTuber friends.

She was influenced by her grandmother's cooking and YouTube friends to continue her interest in cooking and having a baking show on YouTube. Before all of this, she was in a lot of films and movies.

Now, Rosanna is inspiring others to get out of their comfort zone to try new things like baking her new recipes or skydiving. Her viewers or subscribers on YouTube are all being influenced by her. They could take her recipes and make it their own. Someone could start their own YouTube channel because of her or own their own bakery or want to create a blog about food. I chose a blog topic on food partly because this woman has inspired me to make my own food blog and share my own tips and recipes. I haven't shared any recipes yet but planning on it. Overall, it takes one person to influence another and from there, the tree will keep growing and growing.

In all of her YouTube videos, you'll noticed how she is also inspired by many people and animated movies for her baking show. She is almost always saying how this inspired her and that inspired her. Here's a screenshot of her YouTube channel. You'll see how she takes another type of "work or idea" and make it her own in a different way.

As you can see, she is inspired by a lot of things out in the public. The point of the family tree idea is to understand how one "steals" someone else work and make it their own.
