My professor gave my colleagues and I an opportunity to hack any #Web2.0 to misuse it, yet share any types of stories we are interested in sharing to the public. There are a lot different ideas to hack any Web 2.0 and change it in your own way for good. I decided to Guerilla hack #MyGoogleMaps. I'm not talking about the actual Google Maps but a similar Google Map app.

I decided to hack this website/app not to have people look at directions on getting to their vacation spot or try to find a place to go out to eat at. This is a project where I want the humanities #globally to share their recipes. It can be recipes passed down, new recipes invented, or a recipe found on #Pinterest. I think it's great that today's generation, we have the opportunity to use our advanced technologies to bring the world together. We all grew up with different beliefs and cultures, and it's very interesting share our culture food/recipes for others to try.
When I was in elementary, my teacher asked my little classmates and I to bring in our favorite recipe to share. Then at the end of the school year, we all receive a book that has all of our recipes in it. So that idea #inspired me to put our technologies to good use and give people globally, a voice to share their favorite dish or snacks!
When I first started brainstorming ideas on what to do, I first told myself that I wanted to use only #Google Maps because it's kind of abnormal for someone to misuse a map. I started to think some more and I was like, I am going to write a story about this baker's journey. Then I thought some more and realized that it was not good enough or fresh enough to misuse Google Maps.
Made with Love - Title of My Project
When we started talking about collaborative narrative in my #Digital Media Writing class, I realized that I wanted the humanities to somehow participate in this narrative but done for a good reason. So then I thought, why not have everyone from everywhere share anything about food! I just fell in love with the idea. However, I would have to put a link somewhere to get people to join the link and share their recipes and background stories on the recipe. I thought, well, I could ask people on my #socialmedia accounts and get them to be involved or I could ask people on my free time.
Overall, I enjoyed creating ways to hack a Web 2.0 and turn it into a collaborative narrative. It makes the whole Guerilla hacking experience spontaneous! After creating My Google Maps account and setting up an example of misusing it, I have the project link set up for the public to view it but also to edit it so they can participate in it!

Here are the steps. You should be able to see a location pinpoint marker, or if you put your cursor over some of the buttons, you'll see that the one button will say "add marker" then click anywhere on the map where you are from and you can edit from there. Your title can be your dish or whatever you want to call it. Then below, you can add your recipes and stories or even a link!
