Most people wake up in the morning and grab only a coffee for the go or they stop somewhere to buy coffee and breakfast, which isn't quite the healthiest choice. However, the marketing techniques create food advertisement on bill boards and social media to appeal so delicious and healthy when they obviously aren't. So I decided that I wanted to research all the unique skills multimedia artists and markets do to create something that looks so eye catching yet healthy! Here we go!

According to NCBI, food advertising is pretty much a central marketing activity for the US food supply. Since I am majoring in Multimedia and Digital Culture, I have thought about working with food companies to design and use multimedia skills to create some awesome ads. Let's check out what I have researched so far! I am going to first explain the process that these people go through to create ads then find out how they achieve to lure in kids and adults with unhealthy food.

To begin with, I started to simply research food ads on Google and I thought this image was best to analyze and break down some barriers.

Here we see that ads are being compared to the real food at these four top fast-food restaurants, which we as customer already know there's a difference.

However, the image itself says "Food ads elevate fake into an art form." I am actually curious because do these people use real food and professional take pictures and use cool effect to look real and juicy or do they actually use fake food/things to make it look real along with photo shop? Now my brain is exploding with more thoughts. Now I'm going to dig even deeper to reveal the truth that you all have been waiting for. Drum roll please (I'm talking about those ice cream Drumsticks).

Alright I first researched r that are used to make food ads look appealing and I think I am going to give you the link and you can take a look for yourself... I am honestly mind blown. I encourage you to check it out then come back after you have seen the 15 tricks food advertisers use. https://brightside.me/wonder-curiosities/15-incredible-tricks-advertisers-use-to-make-food-look-delicious-296860/

Check this video out too!

It kind of makes me feel a little stupid just because we live in such an updated and industrial society that technologies are able to photo shop the advertisers' work to make the 'fake' food appear good. As of now, I know they use real food but they use every day household things to make their job a little easier. That is actually cleverly creative to use shaving cream as whipped topping, but I was shocked that we could use mashed potato to create the look of scooped ice cream. Would have you thought of anything like it? Now I really want to step up my creative game. I'm sure some artists would use clay and make it appear as if it's real food then edit it.

Now for my final question, what makes unhealthy food look so healthy? I searched up some more images and here is one.

As you can see, the words they choose and the background they design to make fast-food appear healthy because we all know these food are high in calories.

Overall, marketing and advertising food would be such a fun career when working with multimedia skills and getting to be creative! Honestly, this could be one of my dream jobs. I actually remember talking about it with my mom and twin sister! They pretty much told me that they can see me chase it because I've always worked with candy and food since my 9th grade of high school. Crazy right! I hope you learned something new and if not, hopefully you thought of some more interesting questions about food, media, and advertisement. Chow my friends but don't chow on too much fast-food. You can treat yourself though!
